Google has awarded us funding again to offer a 3-day summer workshop for middle and high school teachers. The goal is to improve STEM education by "teaching the teachers." This is our fourth CS4HS offering. This year the workshop will consist of hands-on activities about:
- encoding/decoding secret messages (cryptography),
- visual, block programming with Scratch,
- an overview of GoogleApps for education,
- kinesthetic, fun activities to teach concepts without a computer (CS Unplugged),
- solving mathematical/scientific problems with image processing, and
- a luncheon panel session about careers featuring CS students, alumni, faculty, and employers.
Workshop dates are Monday, June 24 - Wednesday, June 26, 8am - 5pm each day.
More details and an online application can be found at http://www.cs.appstate.edu/cs4hs and the application deadline is May 20.
